Nestled just below the ridge of Catoctin Mountain, the new Bath House at Catoctin Quaker Camp is designed to integrate seamlessly into its wooded environment while serving the essential needs of campers. Interior spaces are divided by function, with clearly defined areas for showers, toilets, and handwashing, allowing for ease of use and intuitive flow. Natural light and ventilation are prioritized throughout, minimizing the need for artificial systems. Accessible design features ensure that all campers and staff can use the facility with independence.
Sustainability and durability were central to the design process. The Bath House incorporates passive design strategies, durable natural materials, and low-maintenance finishes to ensure longevity and minimal environmental impact. It reflects the camp’s mission to foster respect for people and the planet – supporting generations of campers in their journeys through nature, friendship, and personal growth.
