Brookeville Woolen Mill Addition and Restoration - Brookeville, MD
Scope of Work: Restoration of a historic stone farmhouse and an addition to support the home’s current needs.
The original structure, built with locally quarried stone, has been carefully preserved and updated to honor its early American heritage. From the wide front porch with hand-laid stone supports to the restored fireplaces and timber details, every effort was made to maintain the character and craftsmanship that defined the original home. To meet the needs of modern living, an addition was designed, expanding the living space while celebrating the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. Large, floor-to-ceiling windows flood the new living areas with natural light and frame views of the forest beyond.
The integration of the new structure was guided by sensitivity to the existing home’s proportions and materials, ensuring that the addition feels both intentional and timeless. This project stands as a testament to the beauty of preserving history while embracing modern design, creating a home that is both rooted and forward-looking.
