Power Conversion for MTA Light Rail - Baltimore, MD
Client: MTA Lightrail
Team: INTECaec with WSP and various subcontractors
Year Completed: 2025 (design)
Scope of Work: Power conversion from 5kV to a commercial locally available low voltage 120/240V power at eight MTA Lightrail train sites in Baltimore area
This was a one of a kind project by any measure. The type of project that clients have come to trust INTECaec to carry out.
The task required years of design and preparation, to be followed by disconnection from a 5kV system serving signal power system used for the trains. Minimal, off-hours downtime is planned with reconnection to a new metered 120/240V system provided by the local utility company, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE).
INTECaec developed the site and the electrical drawings after careful surveying and monitoring of each installation. Coordination with BGE and MTA was essential to the success of the project.
