Scope of Work: Design Replacement for AHU’s in Explosive Environment
This Navy lab has housed an explosives lab for decades and it was past time to replace the air handlers. The prior installation was primitive by comparison to the technology available today, but the requirements were much the same: maintain tight temperature and humidity conditions, a high degree of filtration, and non-sparking and sealed equipment to assure no risk of causing an explosion.
New custom air-handlers and a supporting chiller were mounted on an existing platform adjacent to the space and fitted with modern controls reporting to a Building Automation System already in place at the Center.
