The building owner thought they had a problem to meet impending 2026 Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) in the District of Columbia. Careful analysis showed that they did not. It turned out that an initial study had determined that the building was very deficient regarding the energy goals coming up in 2026. Our analysis revealed however that the LED lighting program, done following that initial study, already showed results better than expected by the owners. They no longer had to work hard and fast to make arbitrary improvements. This offered some breathing room in the ever tightening energy schedule allowing the building owner to properly plan and implement other changes, that were already hoped for, and to accomplish in a longer time frame to meet the next round of requirements in 2032.
