Sandy Spring Friends School Performance Arts Center and Athletic Center - Sandy Spring, MD
Client: Sandy Spring Friends School
Team: INTECaec (architect), 2RW (MEP engineer), BECS (waterproofing consultant) and Whiting-Turner (general contractor)
Year Completed: 2025
Scope of Work: The project consisted in the mechanical equipment and roof replacement for all the flat roofs of the Performing Arts Center and the Athletic Center, two of the existing buildings on the school’s master campus. INTEC provided Construction Administration before and after the building permits were issued.
The construction administration had to take into consideration the school’s critical needs as related to schedule, and being able to handle the logistics on campus while the buildings’ HVAC systems were disabled. Sequencing the construction, identifying critical path items, and an overall careful and proactive planning were essential for the success of the project.
INTEC provided support in the product selections and value engineering, performed shop drawings reviews, responses to RFI’s, punchlist walkthroughs, and addressed code compliace issues. Due to long lead times for mechancial equipment and other products to be used in this project, a lot of the decisions had to be in place even before a building permit was submitted.
