Design Charette for a Community Center Masterplan - Adelphi, MD
Client: Adelphi Friends Meeting
Year Completed: 2012
Scope of Work: Conducted two day-long design charrettes for the Adelphi Friends Meeting, to help them assess options for making their current facilities accommodate people with disabilities and a growing worshipping community.
In preparation for the design charrette, the staff performed a detailed existing site and
building analysis to assess the current challenges and opportunities on the existing
site. Several options were prepared at different price points for altering the current
facilities to meet the Meeting’s needs. More than 60 people participated in the first
day-long charrette and provided feedback for the proposed designs.
In the second day-long charrette, refined design options were presented to the participants, at different scales and with cost estimates.
A final report was prepared for the Meeting with the results of the two charrettes along with detailed cost estimates.
