INTECaec in support of URS Corporation provided a complete renovation of the lighting at the Salisbury, Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. LED fixtures were chosen throughout the facility and including the parking lot. The project is substantially complete now and the lighting is beautiful, clean and energy efficient. In the past year or two we have seen a radical shift in lighting design with LED taking the lead. A combination of increasing affordability, public awareness, ease of control and diversity of fixture options has driven this major shift in the building industry. About 500 billion kilowatthours (kWh) or almost 20% of the electricity consumed in the commercial and residential sectors serves lighting. LED energy requirements are often 1/10th that of incandescent and ½ compact fluorescent. The energy and cost savings potential is enormous and the implementation time is very short.
